How to choose a product?
A chainsaw runs on a two-stroke gasoline engine. Therefore, when choosing a tool, first evaluate its power and ability to handle hardwood.
When choosing a chainsaw, pay attention to:
- Tool type. Hobbyist, homeowner, semi-professional, and professional. A saw for simple purposes typically has a power of up to 1.5 kW and a service life of at least 200 hours. Professional tools typically have a power of up to 2.5 kW and a service life of up to 600-2500 hours.
- Maneuverability of the tool. If you plan to trim shrubs and trees, you should also consider the weight of the tool.
- Availability of anti-vibration system. Especially if long-term work is expected.
- Security system. A brake chain, a catcher, and other options. An easy-start feature would also be useful.
For gardening, pruning, pruning branches, dead wood, and cutting firewood, hobby tools weighing up to 5 kg are suitable. However, these tools, like semi-professional models, are not designed for continuous use for 8-10 hours.
If you're planning more complex work, such as felling trees, it's best to choose saws designed for professionals. Good brakes and ergonomic handles are also essential when felling trees.
Which manufacturer is better?
Carver and Kalibr (Russia) brand tools top consumer preference ratings, offering affordable prices and excellent technical characteristics.
Saws from Chinese manufacturers, such as Hunter, Patriot, and MaxCut, are also in demand. Models from the Korean Daewoo brand are also well-deserved.
The more expensive saws from the Swedish company Husqvama aren't suitable for everyone due to their high price. However, the quality of this manufacturer's tools is very high.

Resume
A chainsaw is purchased for a long time. Therefore, it's crucial to determine what it will be used for and how many hours per day.
We recommend purchasing:
- chainsaws with easy start and chain catcher;
- models with rubberized handles and a comfortable grip;
- options with automatic chain lubrication;
- tools with low noise and vibration levels.
For occasional use, a home-use chainsaw is best. It's lightweight, maneuverable, and features comfortable handles. For professional use, engine power (at least 2.6 kW), instant-action brakes, and an easy start are essential.

Excellent article! And most importantly, it's accurate. We have a Husqvama 450EII chainsaw. It matches all the specifications and advantages. However, I'm not so sure about the downsides. The first is the high cost. Yes, that's true, but the saw really pays for itself – it doesn't malfunction or break down. We've had it for years, and believe me, we haven't had to repair it once. Incidentally, it uses gas and oil sparingly.
The second drawback you mentioned is the short length of the bar. I don't know about others, but my husband is happy with the length. He says it makes working easier.
And here she is, our beauty:
I love the STIHL MS 361 chainsaw: powerful, reliable, durable... and oh so expensive! I've seen prices starting at 80,000 rubles and up. But it's a beast! I got to use it, and I'm glad I did. I have a budget chainsaw—the Belarus BP65-M. It costs 6,700 rubles. It starts, cuts, and works great. 😁
