Description of the bush and fruits

Mighty Udder is a tomato variety characterized by vigorous bushes and large, full-bodied fruits. Bushes of this variety can reach a height of up to 200 cm.

Description of the bush and fruits

Main characteristics of fruits:

  • The fruits of the Mighty Udder weigh from 400 to 600 g, while some of them can reach a weight of 800-900 g;
  • the shape resembles a round plane, which makes them ideal for preparing a variety of dishes;
  • The fruit peel is smooth and durable, which helps ensure long-term shelf life of the product.

Main characteristics

The tomato plant has a region called the udder, where it attaches to the plant. This is where active cell reproduction and the formation of the main stem occurs. The udder also serves an important function: it transports fluids and nutrients from the roots to the leaves and fruit.

Main characteristics

Tomatoes with a robust udder are considered exceptional because they can produce a bountiful harvest on a single plant. It's important for the udder to be strong and able to support the weight of the mature fruits; the optimal length is approximately 4-5 cm.

Bush

The "Mighty Udder" tomato variety was created in 2009 by Russian breeders and has since become one of the most sought-after among gardeners. Breeder Alexey Shevchenko is responsible for developing this unique variety.

Characteristic features:

  • Tomatoes have an excellent flavor thanks to their juicy and sweet flesh, making them an excellent choice for eating raw and making juices. Their robust udder is ideal for pickling and canning, as their fruits retain their flavor even after cooking.
    Taste
  • The ripening period is in the average range and is 105-115 days, which allows harvesting to begin in July and continue until the September cold weather.
  • The key advantage of this variety is its impressive fruit production. A single bush can yield up to 10-12 kg of tomatoes, making it a true favorite among gardeners growing vegetables for both home consumption and commercial sale.
  • The mighty udder originates from Siberia, giving it resilience and adaptability. The plant easily adapts to various climates and is resistant to extreme heat and frost.
  • The plant has a fairly strong immune system, but is particularly vulnerable to late blight, and its most active pest is the whitefly. To avoid damage, you can take proactive measures to maintain the health of your tomatoes by implementing the necessary preventative measures.
  • The shelf life of tomatoes is determined by many factors, including temperature, humidity, and so on. Under ideal conditions, tomatoes retain their quality for 2-3 weeks. However, moderation is essential when storing them, as prolonged storage can lead to loss of flavor and nutritional value.

Growing and care

To ensure the Mighty Udder tomato produces a rich harvest, it is important to follow a few recommendations:

  • The distance between plantings should be 40-45 cm, which will provide sufficient space for the root system and guarantee that each plant receives light.
  • Gardeners typically plant tomato seedlings in cold- and wind-protected locations, such as under plastic, in May and June. This will create ideal conditions for healthy growth.
    Landing
  • When tomatoes begin to ripen, it's crucial to pay attention to potassium fertilizers. They promote a delicious harvest and strengthen the plant against stress.
    landing
  • To ensure larger and juicier fruits, you should regularly remove side shoots and feed the tomatoes with organic mixtures.
  • Don't forget about protection against pests and diseases, for which you can use both proven medications and folk natural remedies.
    Care
  • Maintaining the ideal temperature is key to long-term tomato preservation. It's recommended to store tomatoes at temperatures between 8°C and 12°C, which will ensure they retain their original flavor and aroma.
  • For these same purposes, sturdy yet breathable containers are needed. These can be organic baskets or plastic crates equipped with ventilation holes. It's important that the container is secure and convenient for storing the fruit.
Before storing tomatoes, they must be thoroughly washed and dried. There should be no traces of moisture remaining on the surface of the fruit, which could cause spoilage. Damaged and fully ripe tomatoes should be removed from the pile to prevent them from affecting the condition of the other tomatoes.

Reviews

Victoria Pudova, 53 years old, Pskov.
Tomatoes of the "Mighty Udder" variety can reach a weight of up to 800 g, but in my experience, the maximum is 300-400 g. Last year, in the greenhouse, they didn't grow to the expected size, and not all the flower buds developed into fruit. I'm not very happy with the result, although the fruits are quite tasty and juicy.

I grew this variety both in the greenhouse and in the garden. Blossom-end rot developed on the fruits in the greenhouse, while none were found outdoors. Outdoor tomatoes produce 5 to 6 fruits per truss, sometimes up to 8, while in the greenhouse, trusses sometimes have 3 to 4 fruits, with significant spacing between them.
Maxim Vyaltsev, 61 years old, Krasnodar.
I liked the variety—the fruits are fleshy, rather sweet. And the bushes don't require any special care. I followed the standard guidelines. But what a relief it is not to have to shape or tie up the plants.

Mighty Udder is a tomato variety that deserves attention for its unique characteristics. These tomatoes will delight you not only with their sweet taste and aroma, but also with their ease of care. Their high productivity and beneficial health benefits make them a firm favorite among gardeners.
