Introduction to the variety

This vegetable variety is considered early maturing. The crop ripens within 39-45 days after emergence. Its mass harvest occurs between May and July.

Fruiting is uniform, abundant, and long-lasting. It continues until the autumn frosts. Vegetable growers harvest between 9 kg and 15 kg of cucumbers per square meter.

The Chistye Prudy hybrid is renowned for its excellent technical characteristics:

  • resistance to cold (these cucumber bushes do not lose their ovaries during frosts and bear fruit until the first autumn frosts);
  • shade tolerance;
  • stress resistance, allowing it to withstand sudden temperature changes;
  • resistance to attacks by insect pests;
  • strong immunity (plants are not prone to damage by powdery mildew and downy mildew, olive spot, cucumber mosaic virus, root rot;
  • unpretentiousness and undemandingness to growing conditions.

Features of selection

The patent for the hybrid cucumber variety belongs to the Manul breeding and seed company. It was developed by Russian breeders:

  • Borisov A. V.;
  • Krylov O. N.;
  • Orekhova E. A.;
  • Krylova T. I.

They succeeded in developing a viable variety with parthenocarpy and cluster fruiting, suitable for cultivation in open beds and polycarbonate (or film) greenhouses in virtually any climate. In 2003, it was approved for use in the Russian Federation.

Specificity of bushes and cucumbers

Hybrid plants are indeterminate. They are distinguished by vigorous growth, a strong central stem, and above-average branching. The dark green foliage covering the bushes is medium-sized, trefoil-shaped, with slightly wavy edges and a slightly wrinkled surface.

Chistye Prudy bush

The Chistye Prudy cucumber is characterized by cluster fruiting. It produces cucumbers, gathered in clusters of 3-6, that ripen simultaneously. Gardeners pick them from the branches when they reach the gherkin stage.

The description of the hybrid fruits includes the following indicators:

  • length - 10-12 cm;
  • diameter - 3.1-3.4 cm;
  • weight - 90-120 g;
  • shape close to cylindrical;
  • green skin, thin and strong, with a barely distinguishable pattern of stripes of a lighter shade;
  • slightly ribbed and tuberculate surface (tubercles are medium in size) with the presence of white-spined pubescence on it;
  • the pulp is juicy, crispy, aromatic.
These cucumbers don't tend to turn yellow. They retain their attractive appearance and excellent consumer qualities for a long time. Their shelf life and transportability are excellent.

Taste and application

Gherkins Chistye Prudy mushrooms delight the eater with their sweet, refreshing taste, devoid of bitterness. They have a wonderful crunch. Their aroma is fresh, with a subtle tart note. Homemakers add them fresh to salads, use them for whole-fruit pickling, and canning.

How to plant correctly?

A hybrid variety of cucumber suitable for growing even in unfavorable climatesIt is successfully cultivated throughout the Russian Federation. However, to obtain the maximum and highest quality yield

Clean ponds require a lot of sun, nutritious and moderately moist soil (loam, black soil).

Grow vegetable crops in one of 2 ways:

  • sowing seeds directly into garden soil;
  • seedling method.

sowing seeds of Chistye Prudy

Follow the sowing/planting times recommended by the hybrid seed manufacturer:

  • end of April, May – sowing seeds to obtain seedlings;
  • after May 20 - transfer the seedlings to an unheated greenhouse (in the middle zone);
  • beginning of June – planting of seedling bushes in open areas of the garden (central zone of the Russian Federation);
  • the first weeks of June - sowing seeds in garden soil when growing outside the greenhouse;
  • April-May – sowing/planting for southern regions.

Site preparation

Prepare the soil in your plot for growing hybrid cucumbers in two stages:

  1. In early September, dig the soil deeply (to a depth of 60 cm). Then, water it with a disinfectant solution called Gliocladin. Trichodermin is also suitable for soil treatment. Then, fertilize it with organic matter (compost, humus).
  2. In mid-April, dig the garden soil again to a depth of 25-30 cm. Remove all weed roots and plant debris. Apply mineral fertilizer or bird droppings. Water the area thoroughly. Water again one day before planting the cucumbers.

Germination of seeds

Starting in the second half of April, sow Chistye Prudy seeds for seedlings. Prepare a nutritious soil mixture for growing them, combining the following ingredients:

  • turf soil;
  • peat;
  • sand;
  • wood ash, crushed into powder;
  • humus;
  • Superphosphate.

Fill cups with a hole in the bottom or peat pots with the mixture. Sow 1-2 seeds in each container, covering them 1.5-2 cm deep. Once seedlings emerge, remove one of the two sprouts, leaving the stronger one. Keep the seedlings in a sunny window at 23°C (73°F). Provide supplemental lighting and water with a spray bottle.

If you prefer to sow hybrid cucumber seeds in the soil in an open garden plot, do so in late May or June. Plant them to a depth of 3-4 cm. Plant them 30 cm apart. Row spacing is 70 cm. Cover the seeds with plastic film. After 5-10 days, sprouts will emerge from the garden bed.

Transfer of bushes

Plant the Chistye Prudy hybrid seedlings in a greenhouse or open garden bed when they reach 27-29 days of age. By this time, the seedlings should have at least 3-5 true leaves. Perform this procedure on a cloudy but warm day (without rain or strong winds).

Follow the planting pattern:

  • the distance between plants is 30-35 cm;
  • distance between rows - 70-100 cm;
  • density - 2.5 bushes per 1 sq. m (2-3 plants - when grown in a greenhouse, 3-4 - when grown in open ground).

Care methods

The Chistye Prudy cucumber requires proper cultivation techniques. If not properly cared for, its yield will suffer. To ensure long-lasting and abundant fruiting, take the following measures:

  • water it as the soil dries out;
  • loosen the soil under the cucumber bushes;
  • weed the planting;
  • apply fertilizers.

Watering

Water the hybrid plantings once every 7 days until inflorescences appear on the bushes. Use 0.5 liters of water per plant. During fruiting and ovary formation, water the cucumbers twice a week. Use 1.5 liters per plant. Starting in the second ten days of August, reduce watering to once every two weeks.

Combine watering with loosening the soil and weeding. Don't be lazy about mulching the soil in your garden bed. This will allow you to water less frequently, retain moisture in the soil, and prevent weed growth.

Top dressing

Fertilize cucumber bushes Clean ponds in two ways:

  • FoliarSpray the plants with nutrient-rich liquids on the leaves. Do this in the morning or evening to prevent leaf burn.
  • RootBy watering cucumbers with fertilizer solutions at the roots or by incorporating dry fertilizer into the soil (burying it within 7-8 cm of the main stem). Perform this procedure in the evening or on a cloudy day, combining it with watering.

fertilizing Chistye Prudy

Use the following compositions to provide additional nutrition for hybrid cucumber plantings:

  • compost with hay;
  • sodium sulfate;
  • chicken manure solution;
  • monophosphate or superphosphate;
  • potassium salt;
  • ash powder;
  • potassium permanganate solution.

During the growing season of vegetable crops, apply fertilizer at least 3 times:

  • After the seedlings have 2-4 true leaves, spray them with a solution of any complex fertilizer. This is when nitrogen is most needed.
  • During flowering and fruiting, provide the bushes with potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium. In addition to bird droppings and a mullein solution, use mineral fertilizers (such as superphosphate and potassium salt).
  • During the active ripening of fruits, spray the cucumber planting on the leaves with boric acid dissolved in water.

Dangerous diseases and pests

diseases and pests of cucumbers

The Chistye Prudy cucumber is highly resistant to many dangerous diseases affecting vegetables. Its bushes are rarely affected by viruses and fungi. They are not prone to cucumber mosaic, powdery mildew, cladosporiosis, or olive spot.

If agricultural practices aren't followed, the hybrid's immunity suffers. Preventive and curative fungicide spraying will help prevent disease.

  • Ridomil;
  • Healer;
  • Boost.
In case of disease of the Chistye Prudy hybrid bushes, use biological preparations (Fitosporin, Siyanie, Baikal).

This vegetable variety is resistant to pest attacks. Improper care can weaken its defenses against parasites. If you spot aphids or whiteflies on the bushes, treat them with insecticides:

  • Engio;
  • Ampligo;
  • Ato-Beetle.

Twix, Operkot, and Vertimek will help save cucumber plantings from spider mite infestation.

How to collect and store correctly?

harvesting at Chistye Prudy

Pick the cucumbers from the vines as they ripen. Ideally, do this at least every two days. Don't leave the gherkins on the vines for too long. They are juicier and more flavorful if they are picked promptly and not overexposed.

Store your harvested gherkins in a cool place, away from direct sunlight. The best option is the vegetable drawer in your refrigerator. There, the gherkins will stay fresh and juicy for up to 2 weeks.

I grow Chistye Prudy cucumbers in my garden under a plastic cover. This hybrid is early maturing and very productive. I've learned this from personal experience. I harvested a bountiful crop this year. The fruits are very tasty, short and knobbly. They're perfect for canning.
Pavel, 29 years old, amateur vegetable grower, Saratov.
I grow many different cucumber varieties and hybrids in my garden. For me, Chistye Prudy is the best early cucumber. This variety always produces a bountiful harvest, is disease-resistant, and is very stress-resistant. The plants are easy to care for and don't require much attention. I harvest the fruit before the first frost.

Chistye Prudy is one of the most versatile early-ripening cucumber hybrids. It is suitable for cultivation in private households and farms throughout Russia. This is possible due to its low maintenance requirements, resistance to adverse weather, and ease of care. With standard agricultural practices, the plants produce a bountiful harvest.
