Tulips at our dacha

Tulips are the harbingers of spring!
Naive and trusting, like children,
They unfold their petals
And they reach out to meet the sun.

But it often happens that the evil winter,
In no hurry to go North,
And again she covers them with snow,
They are probably cold and in pain.

But they are as steadfast as soldiers,
They stick and don't freeze.
As soon as the fine days come,
How the suns shine brightly.

Tulips

When tulips bloom, spring truly begins. I enjoy growing these wonderful, beautiful flowers in my garden.

When we bought the dacha, several red tulips were growing near the fence between the peony bushes.

In the fall, I planted all the tulips I had grown at my old dacha. I placed them in various places, both in the flowerbed and along the paths, mixed and separated by color scheme.

They grew well and delighted us with a riot of color every spring.

But last spring, they took a very long time to emerge and barely bloomed. In some places, they didn't emerge at all. The leaves were limp and weak, and buds appeared, but soon withered, lacking the strength to open.

In the summer, I dug up the drooping bushes and discovered that there were very few firm, healthy bulbs; most of the bulbs were soft and wilted, and some of the bulbs were empty, just a peel and dust inside.

I'm not sure what happened to them. Maybe they froze or got wet, or maybe it was pests or a fungal disease. My tulips have disappeared, as have other gardeners. I'll definitely find some information online and write a post about what happened to my flowers.

In the fall, I transplanted the remaining tulips to a new location. I bought three more new varieties and planted them separately along the path near the greenhouse.

Planting bulbs

I was eagerly awaiting spring and was thrilled when my tulips began to emerge from the soil. The new tulips looked wonderful, with healthy, firm leaves and strong buds.

Shoots

And the same thing happened to mine as last spring. Only one flower bloomed, a small, weak one, the rest of the buds dried up.

Little tulip

New tulips bloomed in mid-May and are still blooming (today is June 10th).

Different tulips

First, the burgundy and red ones with white fringe bloomed.

And a little later, yellow ones.

A bright yellow tulip

At the beginning of flowering, yellow tulips had white stripes along their petals, and then pink-red lines formed along the edges.

Interesting color of tulip
Yellow tulips produce two or three flowers on their inflorescences.

All the new tulips look just like the pictures and we really like them. But I prefer the regular red and yellow tulips and bouquets made from them.

A wide variety of tulip colors

In the fall I will definitely buy new bulbs; I really want to have lots of different, bright tulips.
