Peonies are blooming in the country flower beds,
The June rains make noise above them.
A green beetle hiding from the rain
He lay down in the bud, as if on a feather bed.Peonies want to shine in all their glory,
To show off your outfit in front of the ladies,
But the icy wind freezes the petals,
Rain and hail knock the color off the buds. The storm will pass and the sun will rise,
Warming the cold buds with warmth.
And again they will bloom with divine beauty
Wonderful and durable peonies!
Good afternoon, flower growers and summer residents!
Our peonies are blooming, and for some reason, whenever they're blooming, it always rains. And with wind, heavy, cold rains. The buds fill with moisture, bending almost to the ground; sometimes the stems break, and the flowers become dirty.
The weather is keeping us from admiring the divine beauty of the peonies. It's unclear what's happening to nature. We still haven't had any summer warmth in Krasnoyarsk, even though June is already coming to an end. It rains every day. The dampness is causing various spots on the leaves, and the flowers are becoming ill and dying. These are the snowflake-like spots on the delphinium leaves.
But it's a haven for pests. These beautiful green, pearlescent beetles have taken a liking to the peony buds.
Of course, they eat the petals and ruin the flowers. But it's a shame to crush them, they're so beautiful! However, they can also carry dangerous viral diseases, just like ants, so they need to be controlled.
I simply collect the common rose chafer, that's what they're called, and put them in a jar with a lid.
It seems I didn't destroy them, they suffocated themselves. I feel sorry for them, but what can I do?
And the peonies are brilliant. Even after a heavy downpour, as soon as the sun peeks out from the clouds, they lift their heavy, moisture-filled buds, straighten their petals, shake off any bits of soil, and sparkle in all their glory! I wrote more about peonies in this article. note.
This year (23 g) out of six bushes only three peonies are blooming profusely - white, pink and burgundy.
One peony that was sick last year had no flowers, curled leaves, and bent stems. I wrote about peony diseases. here.
In the spring, it produced straight stems and the leaves straightened out. However, the stems are low and the leaves are small, with only three buds.
The other two, white and pink, produced very few stems.
At first, I thought my peonies had frozen. In the spring, I fertilized them with urea and watered the bushes with phytosporin, and later the stems grew even more and the bushes became thicker.
I hope all my peonies will be fine. While they're blooming, enjoy their fragrance and beauty!
