Saving a cactus

My neighbors hadn't lived in their parents' house for a year, and when they arrived, they found their flowers in a sorry state. Their mother was the one who grew houseplants, but they themselves didn't know how. She came to me and said, "Can you do something about it?" Of course, I didn't refuse. She found this cactus on the windowsill:

The cactus is drying out

Judging by the bottom, it wasn't possible to completely save the flower, as the dried-out area had become very stiff. So I suggested she replant the baby plants. I carefully cut them off and filled each glass with water. I made sure to add one tablet of activated charcoal. This is crucial, otherwise infection could occur. The baby plants are very young, so their immune system is weakened. And considering the flowers hadn't been cared for in a year…

Here are two cups I got:

Cactus babies

More than six months have passed since the "rescue" operation. Now these little cacti are growing in separate pots. However, I had to help them again – as you can see in the photo below, the pots are lacking soil, although the cacti are still in good condition. Anyway, I promised to fix the situation. The only thing I'd like to say is that if you're growing houseplants, you need to approach it responsibly.

Grown cacti

They're still with a neighbor. I really hope they'll grow into gorgeous adult cacti. I've revived cacti this way many times before, so I'm sure it will happen.
