Hello all animal lovers and those who read my stories! I've already written about how dogs' personalities change during pregnancy, and now, as I promised, I want to tell you about how the birth went.
This is what she looked like two days before giving birth:
It was the evening of February 8, 2023. Around 8:30 PM, Chara became restless, and at 9:00 PM, she began giving birth. As I'd predicted, she chose to do so not in her cage, but on the bed (thank goodness, not ours). So, I prudently lined it with oilcloth and threw an old sheet on top (be sure to wash and iron it first; it would eventually turn dirty, but that's not the point).
I was able to capture the moment of birth; a video wouldn't have been possible because Chara was crying and I had to calm her down. Here are the first moments of labor, when the fetus just started to come out:
And here comes the puppy itself. This is our firstborn – a boy! Incidentally, he was the only one – the others were girls:
Chara carefully licked him and pushed him towards her chest:
He ate and she started licking him again:
Half an hour later, a second puppy arrived, a girl. Just like before, the mother took care of the baby:
Then two more girls appeared, but they were red-haired:
Once the birth was over, we waited another hour and moved everyone into the cage:
These are the four little ones we have:

It was so exciting to read and watch Charochka's labor progress. She's such a smart girl! 😊
