One day, while walking through the Royev Ruchey Flora and Fauna Park, I saw yellow daisies. I'd never seen such flowers before, and I wanted these little sun-like flowers to grow at my dacha. The bushes also had dried flower heads with seeds, and I picked a few of them.
Later I found out from the Internet that this plant is called Dyer's chamomile or AnthemisSince then, sunny chamomile has been growing everywhere at my dacha: in flower beds, along paths, under trees, and even on the compost heap.
The chrysanthemum has a neat, compact bush, beautiful carved leaves with the scent of wormwood, and flowers - yellow daisies, 5-6 cm in size, also smelling of wormwood.
There are many flowers on the bushes, flowering lasts from June to August, and the seeds ripen in August.
All kinds of insects - butterflies, bumblebees, bees, various flies, the names of which I don’t know, circle above the flowers, collecting nectar, the hum continues all day.
When the chrysanthemums finish blooming, I pull up some of the bushes by the roots and add them to the compost heap. I trim some of the bushes back to 10 cm from the ground, water them, fertilize them, and the plant begins to grow new stems and blooms again until the frost sets in.
The dyer's chamomile plant is drought-resistant, easy to care for, and disease-free. Sometimes, at the beginning of flowering, you might notice small aphids on the flower buds. We have a lot of ants in our garden, which spread this pest to many flowers. But as soon as I notice aphids, I try to kill them immediately.
It doesn't require much watering; it thrives in sunny locations all day long. If grown in fertile soil, it can grow up to 1 meter tall, while in poor soil, the height is 40-50 cm.
This photo shows the differences: one bush is tall, growing in a flowerbed on fertile, fertilized soil, while the other bush is shorter, growing beyond the flowerbed on a path. I simply felt sorry to uproot the self-seeded plants, so I left the seedlings. I tie up the tall bushes, otherwise the wind will knock them over.
The chokeberry overwinters well. If the seeds sprout in the fall, small bushes appear in the spring when the snow melts. Also, in the spring, the seeds sprout almost everywhere. Here, it grows like a weed.
I recently learned that the plant is medicinal, that the flowers are used to treat the liver, gallbladder, migraines and colds.
The dried flowers can be used to make a rinse to strengthen hair roots. So, this sunny yellow chamomile is not only beautiful but also provides many health benefits.
