It's called tenacious bedstraw, but depending on the region of Russia, it has other names. For example, sticky bedstraw and sticky bedstraw (the most common), scaly bedstraw, sticky bedstraw, and clingy bedstraw. This is because the tips of the green mass are covered with tiny hairs with hooks. Because of this, it's impossible to pass by without a trace—the grass will inevitably cling to your shoes or clothing and begin to trail behind you.

But weeds aren't the only ones causing harm—it turns out grass quickly takes over garden beds and entangles crops, sucking out all the nutrients from the soil and carrying pests.

It can't grow in just any location—bedstraw thrives in very high humidity. Under these conditions, it blooms from May to late August and bears fruit from July to September. It releases 350-400 seeds at a time, which remain viable for eight years. This is why it's so difficult to eradicate this weed from your garden.
