The Pros and Cons of Village Life

I lived in the city for many years, and now I live in the countryside. While our house was being completed, we moved in temporarily with friends. Over the past year, I've noticed so many advantages of living in the countryside. Now I'm surprised why people are so fond of the vast expanses of the city. I agree, everything is simpler and easier in the city. For example:

  • all the amenities are exclusively in the house (but this is also possible in a private house now!!!);
  • there are public transport stops nearby, but in a village, if it is small, the stop is far away, the bus runs strictly on time;
  • there is no need to clean the courtyard - in multi-story buildings this is done by professional cleaners);
  • There is no vegetable garden, which requires long and hard work for almost 3 seasons a year - but you have to go to the store to buy it, and there is absolutely no confidence in its environmental friendliness.

In principle, these are all the advantages of city life. In the village, I've noted the following advantages:

  • vegetables and fruits from your own garden/vegetable garden – they are super environmentally friendly;
    Zucchini from the garden Melon beds Cabbage A bunch of tomatoes Little cucumber Bunch of grapes
  • you can keep a farm - chickens, turkeys, geese, pigs, cows, etc. - you will always have your own, non-GMO meat (you can also sell it and make money from it);
  • Even if you don’t keep a cow, you can buy milk, sour cream and cottage cheese from your neighbors – again, a clean product;
  • You can grow medicinal herbs that also help in gardening;

  • and what kind of nature is there - there is definitely a pond and a forest nearby;
  • the winter village is magnificent, and the fields too;

  • You can grill a shashlik in the yard at any time of the day (in the city this is problematic - it is punishable by law);
  • in early spring you can already eat your own vegetables and greens - if you build a greenhouse;

  • you can safely let your children out into the yard without worrying about them being kidnapped or hit by a car);
  • you can easily roll around in the snow;
    Winter fun in the village
  • you can go mushroom picking;

  • If you have indoor dogs, like I have Staffordshire terriers, then there are no problems with walking them - you just let them out in a specially fenced area, but in the city you need to take them out strictly at a time, and take them to special areas for walking animals (do you think they are always near the house?);

  • take a walk with dogs through the forest or field;

  • You can't hear your neighbors, like in an apartment building - you can sing songs or dance, but outside the walls there's only the territory of your own home.

I agree, heating a large house with gas is problematic—it's simply too expensive. But you could, for example, install a modern potbelly stove. Here's a photo of one (from when we were staying with friends in a two-bedroom house):

It warms up very quickly and retains heat for a long time, but you still need to bring in some firewood. I have photos of that too:

Now I understand the beauty of village life, and I will never want to go back to the city))))))
