Parsley with roots from the market – what can you do with it?

It's still a bit early, so the parsley I planted in the garden hasn't grown. And it's not growing well anyway. I bought this green stuff at the market—it was sold with the roots still attached (honestly, I don't understand why they'd pull it out like that, since the roots will eventually form new green mass).

At first, I wanted to throw them away, but then it dawned on me—you could cut off the greens and use them for their intended purpose, and plant the roots. I selected the strongest and most resilient specimens:

I cut off the greens from them, leaving a little more than 5 cm from the roots. This is what I got:

I decided to deepen the soil in the beds. I made grooves with a hoe:

I simply stuck the roots into them and covered them with earth:

I lightly compacted the soil with my fingers, pressing it against the trunks:

I watered from above with a watering can with a fine spray. These are the beds that turned out:

I've had a container of onion sets since early spring, always in the sun. I decided to stick some parsley roots in there too.

Now we'll see where it grows best and fastest—in partial shade or in full sun (though it only gets there before 11 a.m. and after 3 p.m.). I still have some weaker roots left, so I decided to plant them in water. Firstly, the roots will get plenty of water that way, and secondly, this is my first time doing this, so it's just an experiment. I cut the roots as before.

I placed the parsley in a plastic cup and poured in water.

It's been 10 days now and I want to share the results:

  • This is how parsley grew in partial shade:

    I think it's a good result.

  • And this is what the greenery looked like in the glass:

I can say that now I know What to do with the roots of purchased parsley and how to get greens very quickly.

In the fall, when I dig up root parsley, I collect the small roots. They sit in the refrigerator for a while, then I plant the bare roots in a flower pot, close together, and grow the parsley on the windowsill.

Oh, that's a great idea! Thanks, I'll definitely try to do the same this year)))
