Papaya from a seed on a windowsill

My wife and I were vacationing in Thailand and brought back some of these delicious exotic fruits. We decided to try planting them. We cut a papaya in half and removed the seeds. We ate the pulp, of course. :)

The seeds were placed in a plate and placed on the windowsill to dry:

After 3-4 days, I planted them in a pot. I simply sprinkled all the seeds on the surface of the soil, lightly dug in, and watered them.

I covered the pot with plastic wrap to create the right microclimate. Here in Siberia, it's cold enough for papaya to germinate. It loves sun and moisture.

After that, we looked under the film every day and waited... After about a week and a half, the first shoots began to appear from the ground.

Papayas grow quite quickly (especially if there is enough sun). Within a day, these papayas were already here. :)

a day later

We felt like all the seeds sprouted. Naturally, all the Papayas would be cramped in one pot. So we pulled out some (the smallest and weakest). We transplanted the rest into separate pots and gave them to family and friends. We kept three pots for ourselves. The largest one held the two strongest and largest Papayas.

Surprisingly, about a month later, another tree suddenly appeared in this pot :) And now there are three of them:

I took this photo today. It's been a little over a month since the landing.

We'll see what happens next. This is our first time planting papaya and we don't have much experience. If you have any tips or recommendations, let us know!

As Papaya grows, I'll update this post. In general, it would be great to have something like this:

Oh, I wish I could treat all my relatives, friends and neighbors:)
