Small-petaled chamomile is a delicate daisy

Our erigeron has blossomed,
With beautiful daisies,
How gentle and beautiful he is
With cute eyelashes,

The flowers are white as the first snow,
With a bright yellow bottom,
It blooms joyfully for everyone
And it shines like the sun!

I have a small bush of small-petaled daisy growing at my dacha. Another name for this plant is erigeron, but I call these flowers delicate chamomile.

This perennial plant is unpretentious, grows quickly, does not freeze, and even blooms twice a season: in June in the summer and in September in the fall.

This plant belongs to the Asteraceae family and can be low-growing or tall. Flowers come in a variety of colors—white, pink, yellow, lilac, single or double. It can be either an annual or perennial.

I once had an alpine erigeron, a low-growing perennial with lilac flowers, which was left at my old dacha.

Now a small-petaled plant with delicate white flowers is growing. The bush is tall (70 cm), the stems are straight and long, the leaves are elongated, oval, green, and located along the entire length of the branch, while at the bottom, the leaves are gathered into a rosette.

A single flower opens at the end of the stem, sometimes with two or three buds. The flower consists of thin, delicate white petals, which take on a pink hue at the end of flowering. The center of the flower is a soft yellow, becoming darker, closer to brown, towards the end of flowering.

This flower doesn't require much attention, doesn't like excessive watering, and grows well and blooms profusely without fertilizing. Every three to four years, the overgrown bush needs to be rejuvenated by replanting part of the plant. The fleabane tolerates transplanting well; this can be done in spring or early fall. I divided the bush in the spring, replanting part of the plant, and giving the other part to friends so they can grow this wonderful flower too.

To prevent the erigeron stems from bending to the ground and the bush from falling apart from rain and wind, it needs to be tied to a stake.

The small-petaled plant blooms all summer long; when it finishes blooming, I cut off the flower stalks, and it produces new stems and blooms again.

For the winter, you can add humus under the bush; this will protect it from severe frosts and provide additional nutrition in the spring, but Erigeron winters well even without cover.

It's not plagued by pests; neither aphids nor caterpillars eat its leaves. I haven't observed any diseases either; even during this very rainy summer, the bush looks healthy, although many other flowers have developed powdery mildew and various spotting. However, to prevent various rots, you can sprinkle wood ash under the bush; this will protect against disease and provide nutrition, as ash contains many beneficial microelements.

The fleabane can be grown from seed, sown in spring in seedling trays or directly into the ground. Plants grown from seed bloom in the second year.
