Marigolds in orange skirts
All summer long they dance in the garden,
A flower like the early sun
Always and in full view of everyone,Bright, tender, cute
He stretches his petals towards us.
They have healing powers
Simple marigold flowers.
Calendula is a simple and unpretentious flower that grows on its own. Once you sow its seeds for the first time, it will settle permanently in your garden plot, and seedlings appear constantly - in spring, summer, and right up until the frost.
Marigolds are growing everywhere in our flower beds, in the vegetable garden, along the path, and even in the greenhouse. Of course, I don't let them take over too much territory; I constantly pull out the seedlings, but I leave some because I love their bright, daisy-like flowers.
I don’t fertilize the calendula with anything, it just grows, and I water the ones in the flower beds, but the wild marigolds are watered by the rain.
Sometimes a white or grayish coating appears on its leaves. This is a fungal disease called powdery mildew. If it's on other flowers, I treat the plants with Topaz or other mildew-fighting products. If the coating only appears on the calendula, I simply uproot the plant and destroy it.
Calendula is a medicinal plant and in summer we pick its flowers, dry them, and prepare them for the winter.
An infusion of dried flowers has wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, and soothing properties; it can be used to gargle, soothe inflamed gums, treat acne, and treat wounds.
We add fresh flowers to country tea.
In place of the plucked flowers, young shoots grow and new buds form. I also pluck the seed pods, sometimes leaving a few for further propagation.
Marigolds are also popular with gardeners because they help disinfect soil from viral and fungal diseases, combat garden pests, and protect vegetables and flowers from aphids and Colorado potato beetles. A decoction of the flowers and herbs is used to spray plants against spider mites.
The vibrant blooms of this lovely and useful plant are a delight to the eye:
Look what a wonderful bouquet of calendula turned out, it was picked in mid-October, before the first frosts.
