We moved to a new house out of necessity. The garden plot here is abandoned, as no one has cared for it for a long time, and the surrounding water stagnates in the spring and dries up in the summer:
We usually plant onions in the field, but I wanted to have my own green onions, within walking distance (so I wouldn't have to wait for my husband to bring them from the field). But we just moved and there's a ton of work to do, both inside and outside. Then my neighbor said, "Just plant them, without digging." She told me she sometimes plants a little at a time like that. This is the plot I chose:
As you can see, there is water nearby, and grass is growing on the ground:
I bought these onion sets specifically for growing green onions at home:
Then I simply stuck the bulbs into the ground, root-side down. To encourage some plants to sprout faster, I trimmed the tops with scissors:
This is what happened:
Time will tell how it will grow further and what will come of it.
