How to revive cucumbers?

We live in a village where there are no supermarkets like Pyaterochka, Magnit, Lenta, and so on. There are only village stores that occasionally stock vegetables. And you also have to buy them before someone else does. Cucumbers are the most problematic—they quickly lose their turgor and become limp. But they still need to be bought—in the spring, when you crave fresh vegetables, but your garden isn't full yet! That's why you have to buy 5-6 kg at a time.

But I learned how to revive them. It's quite simple:

  • Pour fresh water into a basin and throw in cucumbers, you can also add tomatoes (at least it won’t harm them).
  • Let it sit for 3-4 hours. However, the time depends on how dry the vegetables are. If they're only slightly wilted, 15-30 minutes will be enough, but if they're very wilted, it could take hours.
  • We take it out and check it. You see, now it's practically impossible for me to bend the cucumber because it's absorbed water and become fresh again.

Restoring cucumbers

I'll let you in on a secret: this method of restoration was inspired by the work of vegetable sellers (I have a friend who restores wilted cucumbers this way). It works at home too!
