What is the best way to store cut parsley without refrigeration to keep it fresh for a long time?

I bought a lot of parsley, so I was wondering how to store it, but without refrigeration. A woman at the market where I bought the herbs gave me this idea. She asked, "Why are you buying so much? It'll go bad." But I explained how I usually store it in the refrigerator, to which she replied that hers was broken at the moment, so that wasn't an option (and the market is very far from the village—at least 30 minutes away).

So, this new experiment will satisfy my desire to discover new ways to store parsley. I'll start with the fact that I bought it with roots, and then decided to plant the roots using different methods (you can read about this and the results). here).

Parsley greens

I decided to store the greens in two ways. First, I simply put them in a plastic cup filled with water. I covered it with black plastic film, as the leaves quickly turn yellow in the light. I also slightly dampened the film, otherwise everything inside would dry out.

The second one I put in a darkened container and cover with black plastic, which was also moistened, but only slightly.

Result after three days:

  • the parsley in the glass has rotted;
  • The parsley in the container remained fresh.

Now, a quick recap of how I used to store it in the refrigerator: I simply place the parsley in a glass jar filled with water. It keeps for a little over a week.
