How does a pregnant dog's personality change?

Readers of our group know that I have two Staffordshire Terriers – a girl named Chara and a boy named Richard. I wrote about them hereAlso, if you are new to the group, you can read about how deworm dogs without the use of chemicals, how dogs are friends with cats.

This is what Chara looked like six months ago (she's shorter):

And this is her in the first week of pregnancy:

I'd read a lot about how some dogs become very aggressive, while others, on the contrary, become extremely calm. So I expected either outcome. Our Chara ended up in neither group, because for the first three weeks she acted as usual, but looked like this:

Then, for two weeks, she became aggressive—she was insanely jealous of us, Richard, and the kitten. If Rich rested his head on me or my husband, she would growl and lunge. This is what she looked like during this period:

Then she suddenly became affectionate, almost beyond measure! It became difficult for her to walk, she stopped opening doors herself (she usually jumped on them and pushed them with her paws), and she even refused to run outside—she just kept a calm, measured pace. Of course, it's understandable, because her belly had gotten big, and her breasts were engorged with milk. This is what she looked like:

And here they are lying next to each other (the mammary gland is already huge):

Oh, I almost forgot to mention her diet. Naturally, I started giving her lots of kefir, cottage cheese with low-fat sour cream, cheese, and so on. I switched from feeding her twice a day to three times. But! She herself started craving vegetables, even though she'd only eaten them as a puppy, and then she preferred exclusively fruit—apples, pears, and bananas.

There was a story: I brought two beets into the kitchen and left for literally half an hour, leaving them on a chair. When I returned, they were gone! As it turned out, Charunya and Richunya (who was eating for company, I don't know) had simply gobbled up both beets.

Another story: I grated some beets for beetroot soup, left them in a bowl on the edge of the table, and went into the other room. When I returned, I saw a red face and an empty plate. But she also eats a little cabbage and a lot of carrots; I took a photo of this today:

With a week left before the birth, we anxiously awaited this moment, as this was our first litter. Of course, when the little ones are born, I'll definitely tell you how it all happened (it's something new for me too) and show them off.
