I'd like to show off my pea harvest. This year it's more abundant than ever. But that's not the point, because for many, it's a common occurrence. For me, it's not – I tried growing green peas for two years in a row, but never had a harvest. I have a friend who grows them successfully, so I decided to ask her for advice this year.
It turned out I was making a major mistake: I was applying too much nitrogen in the spring, specifically organic nitrogen. But in reality, the peas find and absorb it on their own. If it rains in the spring and the air temperature is normal, then the excess fertilizer only results in the growth of tops, not pods. Which is exactly what happened to me.
A friend of mine didn't give me any specific advice on growing green peas, I don't know why, so I had to do it myself. First of all, I found this articleThen I studied it. topic about proper feeding, I didn’t forget about the right one wateringI followed all these instructions. This is what my peas ended up looking like:
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take a photo with the pods - they were eaten very quickly, and I closed several jars for salads.
