Review of the Belarus BP65-M chainsaw and its specifications

Hi! This is my first post, but not my first chainsaw )) So, today I'm reviewing the Belarus BP65-M chainsaw.

Chainsaw Belarus BP65-M

Characteristics of the Belarus BP65-M chainsaw

This is what the manufacturer states on the box:

  • Engine type: two-stroke, air-cooled
  • Engine capacity: 58 cc
  • Engine power: 6500 W
  • Rotation speed - 3400 rpm
  • The length of the tire is 45 cm

Below I will provide information on weight, price, etc.:

  • Weight — about 5-6 kg (it's fairly light, but despite this, I don't recommend hanging a chainsaw or lifting it above your shoulders... it's too dangerous, even if you've gotten away with it many times, but next time—oh, how you'll regret neglecting safety rules! I've seen all sorts of things happen, and most often it's experienced and confident professionals who have done so... it's just that situations are different, and accidents are often just an unfortunate coincidence).
  • Price — 6,700 rubles, bought in the fall of 2022 (there was also a box in the store for 7,700 rubles, but it already came with 2 tires and 2 chains: the tire is 18″, the chain is 1.3-0.325″-76).
  • Guarantee — 1 year. If it lasts 1.5-2 years, it'll pay for itself, and then I'll buy a new one. But with proper care and following all operating instructions, it can last about 3 years... more is unlikely. Of course, during this time, you'll need to regularly replace the saw's wear parts... fortunately, they're easy to find and replace.
  • Brand — ProCraft (a German company), assembled in China... and the Belarusians themselves, as far as I understand, have never heard of such a chainsaw ))

This chainsaw is designed for cutting wood of any type. It's a great budget option for home gardening or for harvesting firewood for the winter (for yourself, not for sale)! But it's not suitable for felling trees.

This is a good chainsaw for the money, but it can’t be considered a tool for professional work.

How does the manufacturer describe this model?

  • The Belarus BP65-M chainsaw is equipped with a proprietary carburetor with fuel pumping.
  • There is an automatic chain lubrication function, which extends the service life of the chain itself and improves cutting quality.
  • An overheat protection function is included. This extends the life of the motor and the entire tool.
  • An easy-start system allows the saw to start quickly and effortlessly, even after extended periods of inactivity. This feature also reduces engine wear.
  • There is a fuel pump to facilitate starting in difficult climatic conditions.
  • The technology of porous chromium plating of the inner surface of the engine cylinder ensures an increase in the wear resistance of the cylinder-piston group by 3-5 times.
  • A floating drive sprocket is installed, which stabilizes the chain feed and simplifies the replacement of the drive link.
  • Access to the air filter is easy and quick.
  • The case material is shockproof and resistant to low temperatures.
  • The emergency chain stop system provides a high level of safety.
  • There is also an anti-vibration system.

Pros and cons of the Belarus BP65-M chainsaw

This is my personal opinion as a user. So...

Pros:

+ affordable price;

+ simple design;

+ long bus;

+ comfortable weight of the tool;

+ the saw is easy to use.

Cons:

- unstable/incorrectly adjusted carburetor (I had to adjust it myself, since the saw worked well without load, but “choked” under load);

— the standard spark plug is unreliable and quickly fails;

— the chain that came with the kit quickly became dull, it’s better to buy a new and good one right away;

— the declared power and speed are overstated by the manufacturer, but for my needs, what is actually there is more than enough;

— the muffler conditionally copes with its task, it “cuts” the ear even with protective headphones.

Conclusion on the model

The Belarus BP65-M chainsaw is definitely not a professional tool for felling trees or harvesting firewood for sale. If you need to cut a lot and/or frequently, then this chainsaw is a one-time use one. IMHO.

For moderate handyman work, it's fine (especially at this price!). I personally need a chainsaw a few times a year:

  • In the spring, we come to the dacha for the first time after winter, and we need to prepare firewood for the stove, otherwise it is still too cold to spend the night in the house, and the sowing season has already begun (sometimes I prepare firewood for the stove in the fall, sometimes in early spring - it depends... well, and I remove dry, damaged, diseased tree branches quickly, simply and easily with pneumatic pruning shears);
  • In the summer, firstly, I do minor construction work (the dacha is already dilapidated and needs updating), and secondly, we often need firewood for the fire... We like to grill kebabs, bake fish and vegetables in the evenings :) and we then use the ash from the fire in the garden as a natural fertilizer;
  • In the fall, I cut down old fruit trees and help my neighbors if they need my help.

That's all the work my saw needs to do... purely mundane things.

Advice: If you're planning to start a business and need a chainsaw for logging or opening a sawmill, and your order volumes are small, you might want to consider the Belarus BP65-M to get the hang of it. Otherwise, it would be a shame if, due to inexperience, you ruin something more expensive and better. And when you understand how to use it properly, or rather, how not to If you're working with a tool, then it's worth buying an original Shtil MS 361 or something similar, as this is a professional tool designed for large-scale work. Just don't buy a Gypsy Shtil, especially if the price is so tempting. A friend had this experience, and it left him with a bad taste in his mouth. Naturally, you want to save money, but in reality, in such cases, it often turns out like in that proverb...

P.S.: In my next publication, I will tell you how to maintain a chainsaw so that it lasts longer.

Judging by everything, it really is a good chainsaw for household use.

PS: A friend of mine ruined his Stihl in three years! Three years! He used waste oil, mixed it with God knows what instead of fuel to save money, and I don't know if he ever cleaned the filters. He even installed a chain with a different pitch. Basically, he was careless with the equipment and then complained that the Stihl was a hyped-up piece of junk that broke quickly and out of nowhere ;))) My similar unit has been a joy for eight years now, only changing consumables. Now I'm thinking about buying my dad this inexpensive chainsaw or something more expensive (Husqvarna, etc.), because I'm always at work and have no time to go to his place, and I need to cut down rotten trees or gather firewood for the sauna. Anyway, I need to think about it some more. Thanks for the mini-review and feedback!
