Pansies grow all over my dacha. These wonderful flowers appear in early spring. As soon as the snow melts, I find seedlings of these flowers all over the garden. Some of them have even blossomed, and as soon as the sun warms the ground, their curious eyes open. These plants are capable of shooting their seeds very far, so in the spring I find them sprouting in the most unexpected places. Sometimes even my neighbors have pansy sprouts.
I try to transplant all the seedlings into flower beds, to the foreground. And they delight the eye with their cheerful blooms until autumn. I also grow pansies in pots and boxes, placing them near the summer house and along paths.
I periodically buy new seeds, because stores now offer the most unusual varieties of Viola, in every color—from white to black, with large, multicolored, wavy flowers. Like any gardener, I can't pass by colorful packets of seeds.
Different varieties of pansies cross-pollinate with each other, resulting in unusual color combinations each year. But the most common are violet-blue or lilac-yellow flowers.
These flowers don't present me with any particular problems. If the summer is rainy and cool and powdery mildew appears on some bushes, at the first sign I spray them and water the soil with Fitosporin or a solution of baking soda and liquid soap. But if the disease persists, I dig up the bush and burn it.
Many gardeners call the Viola a violet, as it belongs to the violet family. But no matter what you call this flower, its beauty remains unchanged. Look how beautiful the pansy is.
