Lunar calendar for gardeners

Planting crops according to the lunar phases is an ancient practice. Modern adherents of this principle believe that all life on Earth is subject to the rhythms of the cosmos.

The sun illuminates and warms our planet, sending a stream of particles and various waves to Earth. It participates in photosynthesis—the process of converting light energy into another form of energy, glucose, which plants need for growth and development.

The Moon is the second brightest "luminary" after the Sun. It is responsible for the tides on Earth. There is a theory that the Moon also exerts a physical influence on plants, causing a constant reversal of the flow of plant sap, similar to how water in seas and oceans is subject to the Moon's gravitational pull. Lunar gardeners also claim that the Earth's satellite influences groundwater levels, creating more moisture during the New Moon and Full Moon.

Other celestial bodies can also influence life on Earth. However, the relationship between various astronomical objects is not fully understood. Research aimed at discovering the influence of stars and planets on life processes on Earth began about 100 years ago. The agricultural approach based on the theory of the connection between space and plant life on Earth is called biodynamic farming. Science cannot yet explain the influence of all celestial bodies on plants, but long-standing practice shows that biodynamic methods yield good results. And the reward for their efforts will be the health of the gardener and their family.
