Description of the breed

Name Color Peculiarities
White goats with brown ears White with brown ears The ears hang down the neck
Completely brown Brown
Brown-black or spotted Black, white, brown Spots of different sizes, shapes and locations

Kamori goats are extremely popular in Sindh, Pakistan, where they originated. Their numbers in the country far outnumber those of other goat breeds developed there.

Kamori goats are very similar in appearance to other Pakistani goats. They are characterized by long, drooping ears and a hooked nose. Males look slightly different, with long legs that are significantly longer than females. Kamori males reach over a meter in height. Some members of the species can reach the height of an adult human.

The head is shaped like a small melon, oval, round, and smooth. Eyes are located on the sides, a neat mouth is at the tip of the head, and small horns extend from the back of the head. In some cases, the head does not rise much above the straight body, while in others, there is a significant difference, with a long neck separating the head from the body. The body is straight, without curves. A small tail grows from the back, erect.

The coloring can also vary. There are:

  • white goats with brown ears hanging down their necks;
  • completely brown;
  • brown-black, or spotted, when black, white and brown shades are mixed.

Kamori goats are suitable for all farmers; they don't require much experience or money from their owners, and they are undemanding. Except for the cost of the animals.

Purpose

Kamori goats are primarily raised for large-scale dairy production. A single goat can produce approximately 1.5 liters of milk. They are also used for meat production, as evidenced by the weight of the bucks, which is often noted for their meat production. However, meat production is not as widely used as dairy production.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages of the described breed are the following characteristics:

  • external attractiveness, ears, legs, coloring, not typical for any other breeds;
  • taste value of meat;
  • widely used in dairy production, as well as in meat production;
  • rapid weight gain, which reaches 100 kg;
  • easily tolerate all climatic conditions.

Kamori goats have the following disadvantages:

  • the high price of purebred individuals, low prices are found only for hybrids, which are widespread in neighboring countries;
  • low compatibility with meat production.

Breeding Features

Nowadays, finding purebred Kamori goats in Russia is extremely rare. The average price of a kid can exceed 200,000 rubles. Therefore, not every farmer can afford to breed the breed on their own property and then develop production.

Critical risks in breeding
  • × It is not recommended to keep in regions with temperatures below -10°C without additional heating.
  • × Avoid drafts in the housing area as they can lead to diseases.

Kids

Goats easily maintain their already high productivity despite less-than-favorable climate conditions and poor nutrition. Even when living in unfavorable conditions, they feel quite comfortable.

Productivity comparison
Parameter Milk productivity Meat productivity
Average indicator 1.5-6 l/day 90-100 kg live weight
Optimal conditions Warm climate, high-quality feed Intensive fattening

Females of this breed have bright, prominent udders. Depending on their size, they can produce between one and a half and six liters of milk per day.

Elena, 43 years old, farmer, Klin. Not long ago, my dream came true. My goat, Kamori, arrived straight from Pakistan. She underwent all the necessary quarantines and vaccinations, and seven months later, she settled into my farm. During the first month of quarantine, she lived in a stall next to a horse. At first, I was worried she might feel uneasy alone, but I was wrong. She's very charming. Summer came, and she grew up and matured. She has long legs and a beautiful body shape. She gives a lot of milk, and I don't regret getting her at all.

Irina, 46 years old, farmer, Aleksin. There's a lot to say about them, but I'll just mention what I like most about them, and the other characteristics were also true. I really like milk—not just sweet, but very!

Beautiful goats, but fussy and too expensive. Honestly, the cost wasn't worth it. Although the meat is definitely tastier than our own.

Kamori goats are beautiful, high-quality, and productive. They are expensive, but the investment is quickly recouped, and they require no special care.
